Well, updating is fun! We are approaching the final days here at Sun N Fun Resort. Last week we saw the winter headquarters of the Lipizzaner Stallions...what fun! Those horses are real beauties.
We have tried to see all of our winter friends here in the Sarasota area: Jim and Doreen (Bruce Beach) are down in Bradenton, and we went to the Red Barn Flea Market....Doreen and I each bought a beautiful watch, and then went to dinner. Bill and Kay Ruckle introduced us to what will be known as our favorite restaurant in the area: The Lazy Lobster...yummmmm. Dick and Joyce Thams live in Burnt Store near Punta Gorda (hit really hard by the last hurricane). They took us out for a spin in their boat...a little choppy on the water then, so we came back and went to lunch. It seems like all we do here in Florida is eat! They were here in Sarasota this past weekend. They are antique car enthusiasts, have a beautifully restored 1941 Cadillac convertible. There was a very big show on Sunday....hundreds of cars. Funny, I saw a 1955 Chevy Bel Aire, and it is an antique! I drove one of those in 1963!
We have been experiencing some cold weather here. Last night it was 42 degrees. But our coach has a heat pump, and we were toasty warm. Today it is sunny, reaching a high of 53! We have had a couple days of rain, but no huge storms, I guess we are lucky. But, when it rains during the night, the drops of rain are loud on the roof, waking us up several times.
One of the people we have met here have the slot next to us. They are Chuck and Alexis Ruby, who live in Holly, Michigan. All the people we have met here at the RV park are really really nice people. Everyone is out walking, looking at all the coaches. Just this morning a couple who came in last night dropped by. They have a 2003 Monaco Coach, and we invited them inside ours. We talked and talked and talked. They are from North Carolina. She is a quilter, so you know we didn't lack for anything to talk about!
Our future plans (one week out) will be to leave here on Wednesday 1/31, stay 3 nights at LazyDays, then up to Panama City FL for 3 nights, and then to New Orleans (60 miles NW) for 4 nights. We will drive the Jeep down to New Orleans for a full day of sightseeing, and yes, eating that great Louisiana food!!
Brian's hobby has changed: He now reads and reads and reads all the manuals to the coach until he has them memorized...haha....
If you like, you can leave a reply on this blog, we'd love to hear from you. Or, email us at daahern@comcast.net.
I'm going to try to update this blog once a week, so keep checking back for pictures.
